ABA (AiR Berlin Alexanderplatz) e.V. / at UQBAR
ABA AIR SALON WITH RHONA MÜHLEBACH -------------------------- WE ARE GLAD TO MAKE THE AUDIO WORK AVAILABLE AGAIN DURING VORSPIEL 2021 VIA THE ABA WEBSITE: https://airberlinalexanderplatz.de/event/Nptt0i0vqj3sMhrw0XJh -------------------------- We invite you to a 20 minute RADIO PIECE put together by our current resident from Switzerland Rhona Mühlebach. We will take you on an audio open studio visit in Berlin Grunewald. Rhona Mühlebach has written a short narrative in which different threads of her recent research are woven together, and presented as a short radio play. It is an unfinished audio sketch of her new video-piece which she is working on during her residency here in Berlin. By trying out the written language, taking it into one's mouth, the rewriting of it begins immediately. -------------------------- ABA AIR SALON is a radio format produced by ABA (AiR Berlin Alexanderplatz) e.V. and their current artists in residence respectively. The bi-monthly Air SALON is hosted by Freie Radios – Berlin Brandenburg and broadcasted on Cola Bora Dio (frequency 88.4. in Berlin, 90,7 MHz in Potsdam or online via www.colaboradio.org or https://fr-bb.org/ ). ------------------------- The ABA AIR SALON with Rhona Mühlebach was fist published on 15. December 2020. ------------------- RHONA MÜHLEBACH (CH/UK) ------------------- Artist in Residence at ABA from September 2020 to February 2021------------------- SUPPORTED BY PRO HELVETIA --------------- “My work develops out of everyday relationships with, and attractions to humans, animals, objects or places that I consider companions. The will to understand this attraction - emotionally and not rationally - and the relation between the companions and myself leads to the work. I have moved from a traditional narration-based cinema practice into a fine art practice consisting of video, audio and text. My cinema background inspires the formal choices I make in my work. Nature and science documentaries, and how we discover the world through them, have been very influential in my work over the last years. In my practice I manipulate the forms and technical traditions of TV documentaries and big budget cinema work in order to create uncanny versions of them. I am fascinated by fiction as a consciously distorting mechanism for problem solving in reality. Fiction and reality are co-dependent. In this relationship one is not better than the other, they're both equally valuable. Fiction is a way of looking at our reality. It is not a way of passively observing reality; it creates room for different possible realities. Fabulation is another device that is central to my research. Fabulation sets itself apart from the traditional category of realism and blurs distinctions between what is important or trivial, tragic or comic. It is the representation of imaginary facts as real. Truth is explored through imaginary characters who surprise and conceal with their fictions.” ------------ https://rhonamuehlebach.com/ ------------
