Okta Collective
Okta Collective's hybrid lecture and screening will consider how the machinery of language, painting, science, pseudoscience, religion, and mapping have attempted to harness and represent the natural world - that which is dynamic and beyond rational faculties of the human mind. Through the entry point of the sky and all that it bears - contamination, rainfall, mythology, void, and timelessness - the program considers how natural phenomena and subconscious emotions and powers have attempted to be controlled and rationalized, and how we may let go of this need to control as a mode of environmental ethics. The event is about 45 minutes long in total. To attend this screening, please RSVP to lucykerr@alum.calarts.edu . The program will also livestream on our website: www.okta-collective.com Screenings: Kate Bush, Cloudbusting, 1985, music video John Smith, The Girl Chewing Gum, 1976, 12 minutes, 16mm Dovile Aleksaite, The Weather In Me, 2019, 11 minutes, digital video Alisi Telengut, Tengri, 2012, 5 minutes, digital video And hybrid lectures by Alisi Telengut, Lucy Kerr and Dovile Aleksaite
