Essay

How we got there and how important it was for Panke.

Essay Artwork

Postcards from the Metaverse speculates on the value of the popular 20th century medium – the postcard – in providing accessible and underrepresented perspectives on a newly- hyped infrastructure

Essay

Former transmediale artistic director Kristoffer Gansing applies a bit of home-grown numerology to reminisce about the secrets of Vorspiel!

Essay

The reSource network has been an extremely valuable resource in the process of establishing and running SPEKTRUM Berlin. It allowed us to connect with like-minded people in the city, to start up new collaborations, and to learn from those facing similar issues in running project spaces.

Essay

The essay summarizes the Czech-Brazilian cultural theorist and media philosopher Vilém Flusser’s ideas on the apparatus, codes, and programmed and manipulated society. He ends his texts by highlighting the importance of artists who might be able to play with and against the apparatus and challenge mass media and their preprogrammed functions.

Essay

From 2011 to 2014, Tatiana Bazzichelli and a team of others designed a sprawling event program called “reSource transmedial culture Berlin,” which picked up on transmediale-related projects and flung them far further.

Essay

Since 2013 designtransfer – the gallery and communicates interface of the Faculty of Design, Berlin University of the Arts (UdK Berlin) and the public – participates yearly at Vorspiel to present various projects as exhibitions, installations, and talks related to their New Media & Design courses.

Music acts

Luna Woelle Yu Miyashita 11v151131_M06 Igor Dyachenko . . . . . . . . Ludwig Wandinger Ludwig Wandinger (kirschbluetenimwind) is a Berlin-based music producer, drummer, and visual artist. His musical narratives shift between genres such as experimental IDM, improvised music, and ambient and eclectic sound collages, while his visual work emerges from within the intersection of crooked surrealism and blown-out graphic design. „Painglow“ and „E/Flag“ are two new works by Ludwig Wandinger. They beckon viewers into a realm where the boundaries between life and death blur, and the dance of conflict unfolds in a mesmerizing display of fluidity and ordered chaos while representing the threads of order woven into the unpredictable tapestry of existence. The artworks challenge conventional notions of reality, inviting viewers to explore the boundaries of their perceptions and emotions. They are fueled by the impermanence of life, the inevitable conflicts that shape our lives and the fluid beauty that arises from embracing the threads of order woven into the unpredictable tapestry of existence. Luna Woelle Luna Woelle is a 3DCG artist based in Tokyo who specializes in XR mediums. She began with abstract shapes, but now focuses on hard-surface modeling and 'Imaginary Robotics'. Luna is also a co-founder of an experimental music label called Mizuha 罔象, where she serves as a visual curator, manager, and DJ for local events and international radio stations. In her new collection "IR-016Q01", Woelle takes technology beyond its conventional role, stripping it of its functional essence and ultimately challenges the conventional boundaries of our relationship with technology. The result is a collection of devices that exist autonomously, detached from their typical utility for human use. Luna Woelle develops digital creations that challenge the feelings of practicality and security inherent in our reliance on technology. Originally from Slovenia and now based in Tokyo, Woelle brings a connection to nature from her native country that has sharpened her perception of the systematized mechanics underneath the vertebrate life in the Japanese megalopolis. Pascal Schonlau Pascal Schonlau works in surreal hybrid worlds shifting between CGI and photography while exploring the perception of both. The 'Hyperorganic' series is a visual phenomenon that utilizes chemistry as an artistic tool to create captivating shapes and textures. By utilizing a chemical reaction to create structures that seemingly derive from a biological origin, the result is an artwork that defies recognition and categorization from our visual memory. The shapes and textures presented in the piece are both strangely beautiful and alien, leaving the viewer with a sense of wonder about their origin. Asdrúbal Javier Gomez Abril Asdrúbal Javier Gomez Abril is a Venezuelan visual and digital artist whose art explores the materiality, mineralities, and species of the non-place. His work is based on the study of organic abstraction, creating biomorphic forms through automated processes. Asdrúbal questions natural logic and creates attributes based on impressions of the physical world.

Mercury is born from fossilised ice, the guardians overlook the oasis of the cold desert, and the fire has vanished. https://www.instagram.com/asdrubalvisualartist/

Hany Braisch Hany Braisch is a Berlin-based CGI and motion artist who works in the contemporary and cultural as well as commercial fields. Her work is an experimental fusion of reality and virtual reality that mixes unconventional, surreal and organic shapes with the real world to which we are accustomed. Her work is her own expression of aesthetics and beauty that creates a feeling of getting to know something foreign and unknown. Transcending Realms - In our tangible reality, these entities exist in a state between different forms of existence, without a direct counterpart. We can only capture a fraction of their true essence in our three-dimensional world. They seem to be in a constant state of change, interacting with space and time in ways we can't fully grasp. This opens up new possibilities and realities, while we still have much to learn. What are the limits of different realities, and how do we explore our role in the vast universe? Julian Guzman Julian Guzman is a Colombian multidisciplinary designer and 3D artist. His work explores human perceptions by playing with complex forms in VR, futuristic textures, and vivid colors. Guzman creates visual dialogues on themes such as feelings, music and technology. Influenced by abstract and conceptual art, he makes minimalist works and explores chaos by letting himself be carried away by messy and weird shapes. Some questions have been on the artist's mind for some time, and they have to do precisely with time itself: What is our footprint? What will we leave for the "archaeologists of the future" to discover? In other words, we live in the age of data, and these questions led him to explore the materiality and materialization of data, going against the general notion that data is intangible and exists only in "the cloud." With this in mind, in the distant future, when the human race and technology will be nothing more than fossils, data will remain. They will evolve, creating symbiosis in genetic and biological structures of different organisms that will form new species called BRONTOB̶Y̶T̶E̶S̶. These will be the first organisms with millions of years of human technological development data, life emerging with digital DNA that transcends the cloistering of the immaterial. Michael Tan Michael Tan is an Australian visual artist creating images, videos, 3D animation, sounds, and installations. He takes inspiration from software, nature, film and music culture, while his work is practised through traditional, generative and emerging technology. Tan's work 'Low Latency: Danmaku prototype 001' is a captivating art piece that seamlessly melds the worlds of consumer electronics and Japanese arcade gaming from the early 2000s. Imposing silhouettes of iconic shmup (shoot 'em up) games cast shadows, with their bullet-hell patterns on full display, exploring patterns found in the distribution of prime numbers in arithmetic progression. 'Low Latency: Danmaku Prototype 001' is a visual symphony that invites viewers to reminisce about the golden age of gaming, inviting them to explore the intricate connection between hardware, software, and the immersive worlds they conjure. It stands as a testament to the symbiotic relationship between art and technology, encapsulating the spirit of a digital revolution. Michael Tan, 'Low Latency: Danmaku Prototype 001', Video game software, OLED display, Arcade joystick, Speakers. 2024 © Michael Tan https://michaeltan.name/

Nastplas Nastplas is an international creative duo based in Madrid and formed in 2006 by illustrator Fran R. Learte 'drFranken' and creative director Natalia Molinos 'Na' (together 'Nastplas Team'). Their work combines a range of digital elements and abstract patterns to produce elaborate works of art with thought-provoking aesthetics. Nastplas explores the limits between reality and abstraction through a constant process of artistic investigation and experimentation. 'Confluence' as a project explores where nature and the human mind converge through glass structures. Each curve evokes the enigmatic forms of the ocean. Fluid spirals and intricate neural connections pay homage to the hidden poetry in the shapes of water and the depths of the human mind. Here, ocean currents transform into abstract metaphors, revealing the grace of their anatomy in each fold of glass. Simultaneously, neural connections interlace their gleams in an ethereal dance, capturing the narrative of thoughts flowing like currents in the vast ocean of the human mind. In this series of works, the forms become a visual testimony where ocean tides and thought intertwine, reminding us that, just like the ocean, the human mind is a poetic universe to be explored. Nastplas, 'Confluence', 2023 © Nastplas https://www.nastplas.com/

Vladimir Storm Vladimir Storm is a visual artist, filmmaker, and creative director. He focuses on AR/VR storytelling, digital fashion, and immersive spaces working with the biggest brands in the space. He researches worldwide spiritual diversity and belief systems and collaborates with local artists on the topic of digital shamanism. Embark on a journey with Vladimir Storm's 'Astral Trip'. You're looking at the sun and closing your eyelids, the light is starting to fracture forming an infinite tunnel. Mesmerisingly, it drags you upwards and upwards through the passage of colors you've never seen. At the end of it, you meet your guiding entity—an eye locked in a golden prison. 🔸🔆👁️🔆🔸 Vladimir Storm, 'Astral Trip', 2024 © Vladimir Storm http://vladstorm.com/
