Phygital Intimacy

17:00 –
DOCK 11 / DOCKdigital

Phygital Intimacy is an interactive mixed-reality performance and cooperative multiplayer game that merges contemporary dance, generative music production, and XR technologies to create an immersive experience of connection and intimacy between the participants and the technology.

In an immersive mixed-reality environment, a dancer and the participating audience come together on stage to navigate four collaborative game stages (“levels”), overcoming digital challenges through shared actions. Through the interplay of movement, sound, and digital elements, a collective choreography emerges that fosters a sense of togetherness and intimacy across both physical and digital space. Motion data is translated into sound through algorithms, generating a dynamic exchange between body and technology.

Phygital Intimacy is a collaborative project by media artist Lisa Kaschubat (concept and artistic direction), dancer and choreographer Tasha Hess-Neustadt, and musician and composer Jane Arnison. In a joint creative process, the team explores the interplay of body, sound, and code using real-time tracking, interactive motion sensors, and generative music.
